Heartbreaking. That’s the only word to describe Heartbreaking. That’s the only word to describe what’s happening in Arkansas now. Late yesterday, Arkansas legislature overrode Gov. Hutchinson’s veto of HB 1750, making Arkansas the first state to outlaw gender-affirming healthcare for trans youth.

The first principle of the Hippocratic Oath is “do no harm.” When doctors, as guided by the state, refuse gender-affirming treatment to trans gender people, it will lead to disastrous--and sometimes deadly--consequences.

Gender-affirming care is life-saving care. If you support trans and gender-creative kids, now is the time to raise your voice and drown out the violence and bigotry with LOUD, VOCAL SUPPORT. Follow and support litigation from the @ACLU aiming to appeal this decision. Call out transphobia in your workplace, at your school, or wherever you see it. Support the trans people in your own life and beyond.

To trans youth in Arkansas: we will continue to fight for you. 🏳️‍⚧️✊

We all remember the feeling of getting lost in a b We all remember the feeling of getting lost in a book. Think about how good it feels to find yourself in one.

Stories have the power to connect us to each other and to the world around us. They have the power to help us feel seen and heard. For some LGBTQ + youth the feeling of isolation, of being misunderstood and not accepted for who they are is a painful and lonely existence.

That is why we do what we do at Gender Nation. We use the power of story to elevate and celebrate the LGBTQ+ community, and to show kids, queer or otherwise, that they’re not alone.

In addition to continuing our donations of these award winning books to public school libraries, we are now thrilled to announce The Gender Nation Story Time Series! We’ve invited members of the community to share videos of themselves reading some of our favorite LGBTQ-affirming books! This Friday, we’ll release the first video of our Story Time Series: special guest reveal TOMORROW!

Last week, Alabama state legislators voted to pass Last week, Alabama state legislators voted to pass a bill that would make it a felony for doctors to provide trans kids with gender-affirming care. That includes surgery, synthetic hormones, and even puberty blockers, which are a safe, reversible way to delay puberty in gender-questioning kids and teens. This is unacceptable. All young people should have access to safe, affirming healthcare, and most certainly, doctors should never be punished for providing it! The only thing criminal here is this bill.
Now this is the right way to do a #GenderReveal 🎂
